John Barton
President and CEO
Mr. Barton joined Novera Optics in September 2007. He brings with him 20 years of experience in the optical communications industry. Most recently, he was Vice President and General Manager of Flextronics Photonics, the hybrid microelectronics packaging division of Flextronics. Previously, during his tenure with Flextronics, he acted in a variety of executive roles including VP-GM of North America Design and sponsored several ODM design initiatives within the CTO organization. Prior to Flextronics, Barton was President and CEO of Wave Optics, a optical component and sub-component designer and manufacturer. Wave Optics was a Silicon Valley start-up which grew, entirely self-funded, from 2 to over 400 people prior to being acquired by Flextronics in 2001.

Mr. Barton holds BS degrees in Physics and Mathematics from the University of California at Irvine.

Bernd Hesse
Vice President, Marketing and Business Development
Mr. Hesse joined the company in 2005 as the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. With over 20 years in the optical marketplace, Mr. Hesse brings with him a wealth of experience in PON and optical access technology. He was responsible for the first Volume deployments of PON technology in Germany with Raynet. Previously, Mr. Hesse held executive and management positions at Centillium Communications, Opthos, CISCO Systems, Ericsson and Philips Communications and was a founder of FirstWave Consultants and a co-founder of FiberZone Networks.

Mr. Hesse holds a patent for a device for broadband transmission over telephony twisted pair cables (1994), was a board member of Wireless Enterprise Systems (WES) and served on the board of the German International School of Silicon Valley (GISSV) during 2003-2005. He received a Diplom Ingenieur (Masters in Engineering) from the University of Siegen, Germany.

S. Jay Park
Vice President, Finance
Mr. Park joined Novera Optics in 2003 with over 20 years of financial management and public accounting experiences. Previously Mr. Park was CFO with GCT Semiconductor, Inc., a wireless semiconductor company in San Jose. During his tenure, he spearheaded, among others, a round of private equity financing and structuring the company to accommodate its much-anticipated growth. Prior to that, Mr. Park was with PricewaterhouseCoopers Silicon Valley Office servicing mainly technology companies in various growth stages with cross-border structure and issues.

Mr. Park received a BBA from Sung-Kyun-Kwan University, Seoul, Korea. He also studied in MBA program of California State University at Hayward and MA program of Industrial Psychology in University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California and a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Warren G. Siemers
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Siemers has over 25 years of International Operations experience working with leading edge technology companies. Including 19 years in New Factory Development and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering in which he has directed and controlled factory development in many countries e.g. United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea, China, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan and Europe.

Mr. Siemers is also the founder and CEO of StratoTech Corporation which specializes in Operations Management using and implementing Lean Manufacturing principles. He is the author of StratoTech Corporations Lean Manufacturing courses (which are certified for credit hours towards degrees in both undergraduate and graduate level studies at Colorado State University). StratoTech has taught many thousands of students in corporations, governments and universities internationally, in the areas of Operations, Lean Manufacturing and Life Cycle Management. He is also a designer and inventor of Controlled Environmental Technologies, including the patent holder & inventor of the TF-3000 series mini-environment products and Senior Member of Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST).

CJ Park
President, Novera Optics Korea
Mr. Park joined Novera Optics Korea as President in January 2004 and brings with him over 20 years of industry experience. Before joining the company, Mr. Park worked in the R&D Group at KT from 1984 to 2000. As principal researcher and Assistant Vice President he successfully commercialized various Centralized Operation and Management Systems currently running on KT network, such as DELMONS™ (Dedicated Line Management & Operation System) and MOST™ (Management system Of SDH Transmission networks). After leaving KT, he joined TriGem Infocomm and served as a senior vice president of Marketing and Sales for three years.

Mr. Park received an M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Hanyang University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Hankug Aviation University.

Dr. Chang-Hee Lee
Acting CTO
Dr. Lee served as Representative Director of Novera Optics Korea, Inc. from Aug. 2001 to Sept. 2002 and also served as a Managing Director of Novera Optics.

He spent over 16 years as an engineer in the area of optical communications including semiconductor lasers. He was technical leader for 2.5 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s optical transmission systems development including the optical amplifiers at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute. He is an author of 120 journal and conference papers. He is also an inventor of 67 issued patents in US and Korea (more than 40 additional patents are pending in US and Korea). He is the inventor of the WDM-PON based on wavelength locking F-P LD. In 1997 he became a professor of electrical engineering at KAIST. Dr. Lee received B.S. degree in electronics from Hanyang University and both M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in electrical engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

Dr. Hak Kyu Lee
Managing Director of Engineering
Dr. Lee joined Novera Optics Korea, Inc in October, 2002 as a Managing Director of Engineering. He has over 16-years of research and development experience in optical communications, non-linear fiber optics, and optical amplifier. Between 1990 and 2000, he worked for ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) as a principal researcher and technical project leader. After ETRI, he worked for Onetta, Inc. (which later merged into Bookham, Inc.) as a staff optical engineer for two years. He is an author of over 120 technical journals and conference papers and also an inventor of over 50 issued patents in US and Korea.

He received a B.S. degree in Physics Education from Seoul National University and both M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in Physics from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
