The TurboLIGHT™ 16 is the first Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Fiber-To-The-x (FTTx) optical transport platform delivering 20Gbps of symmetrical bandwidth over a single-fiber Passive Optical Network (PON).

The TurboLIGHT™ 16 platform is based on Novera's λ-PON™ (Lambda-PON) automatic wavelength locking technology, utilizing identical colorless Gigabit Ethernet DWDM optical transceivers. It supports 16 channels of 1.25Gbps bidirectional data over 32 independent wavelengths.

The DWDM-PON architecture (presented below) removes the bandwidth bottle-necks on the feeder fiber in the existing broadband access networks and enables flexible service upgrades.

Greater ROI Benefits

The TurboLIGHT™ enables a wide range of differentiated, dedicated point-to-point connectivity services by providing an easy upgrade path, symmetrical downstream and upstream bandwidth, and multi-protocol transparency to allow any protocol and any data rate to be carried over the same fiber infrastructure. The TurboLIGHT™ 16 is being offered in both modular form for integration by system vendors, and in complete system form for plug-and-play use by telecom carriers deploying FTTx broadband access technologies, greatly reducing their capital equipment costs and operating expenses.

The TurboLIGHT™ products features include:

  • Color-free (identical) wavelength-independent DWDM ONUs
  • Reliable point-to-point dedicated connectivity
  • High security and privacy
  • Ease of installation, fiber plant characterization and servicing through use of a WDM-OTDR
  • Simple future data-rate and service upgradeability on a per customer basis

Target Applications

The Transport platform of TurboLIGHT™ 16 addresses telecom carriers deploying broadband access technologies. Target applications are Fiber to the Node/Curb/Building deployments.
